Kathleen began her financial services career as a mutual-fund analyst at Morningstar, Inc., in 1993. She was widely quoted for her knowledge of mutual-fund styles and strategies, with comments in The Wall St. Journal, The Chicago Sun-Times, Smart Money, Kiplinger’s, Money, and many more publications.

She subsequently launched the “Investing for Retirement” column on Morningstar.com, worked as the retirement planning editor for MorningstarAdvisor.com and as a regional director for Morningstar Investment Services, the company’s investment management division.

Kathleen has counseled high-net-worth individuals as a financial planner and served as an investment consultant for institutional investors with Chicago-based, independent consulting firm Ennis, Knupp & Associates. She founded Greenleaf Financial Group with Jennifer in order to bring high-quality, solutions-oriented advice to people and institutions.

Both a CFA charterholder and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professional, Kathleen is authorized to use the CFP® mark of distinction. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and a Master’s degree in art history from The University of Chicago.

Kathleen enjoys nurturing her backyard wildlife habitat or reading books on the couch in the company of her two rescued English Mastiffs. She is also fond of amateur birding and studying American Folk Art. Kathleen lives with her husband, Lee, a professor of English at Butler University in Indianapolis.

Jennifer graduated from UCLA's Personal Financial Planning Program. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professional and a Certified Fund Specialist.

Besides a number of Your Money features in The Los Angeles Times, Jennifer has also been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, Investment News, Investor's Business Daily, The New York Times, Business Week, MSN Money, Money and abcnews.com. She has appeared on NPR's Day to Day show and on NBC's Channel 4 Los Angeles. Jennifer holds a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics with an emphasis in Computer Science from The Colorado College and a Masters of Fine Arts in Film/Video from Columbia College Chicago.

Jennifer brings a variety of experience to her financial planning career. While working in the motion picture industry, she experienced many business climates and corporate changes, including a private equity buyout and the financial repercussions her colleagues encountered after a widespread corporate layoff. Jennifer understands that life brings unexpected turns both professionally and personally. Her aim in founding Greenleaf Financial Group is to assist clients in achieving their financial dreams.

On weekends, Jennifer can be seen running before sunrise before driving a carful of kids to their baseball game. She lives with her son Sterling and spouse Sally, a professional photographer.
